Last week many of my friends posted on their page to watch The apprentice on nbc sunday because "their" company was going to be "primetime". I did watch it and to my surprise they weren't even on. Just a few top people and a seminar type crowd. Now maybe they were in that crowd but who cares since they're lost in it?
Have you ever seen "the invasion" with Nicole Kidman? An alien lifeform, much like a fungus or spore infects many people, robbing them of their emotions when they enter REM sleep. Well I consider this company the same way. Now people actually think that this is "their" company !!!!!! And just like in the movie they are to my opinion completely brainwashed by it.
I used to have a couple who were both people I hang out almost everyday. We shall call them John and Jane for anonymity purposes. Then Jane decided to join ACN. Now this company isn't new to me since my father lost a couple of friends to these types of companies. Like monsters in a zombie movie, these people show up at your gate, behind you in the supermarket or next to you at a party with their catalogs and well prepared speeches trying to sell you "better" products or convert you. A pyramid company where you pay to join and get more money the more people you convert. So you can imagine the frenzy of these people who want to live The acn Dream.
I'm an artist, a revolutionary and anti-commercialist so I don't like closed minded rich people. In fact I hate them. To me they are the scum of the earth. These are the people that exploit and use people and sleep well at night. The modern slave masters. So of course I nicely declined an invitation from John to spend new years at one of ACN's elite party. (Now note that John isn't part of the company, only Jane his girlfriend is.) He got really mad and said that I had to "stop feeling inferior" and to "just get dressed in my nicest clothes and come to the party".
Needless to say I laughed in his face.
I am who I am even when I'm naked. My clothes don't define me and I'm sure ain't going to change them in order to "impress" some people. I might dress in a suit in order to trick and blend in. A disguise so I can wander through that system undetected.
If you're wonderering whatever happened to John and Jane, they separated when John couldn't pass the ACN's 10 things your significant other HAS to have list. Hilarious!!!And I assure you it's true. They even tell you that in order to get rich you have to make sacrifices. That some people are "obstacles". He scored 9 out of 10 of her list but that wasn't enough.
So to my normal people I say keep a sharp eye for the signs. If someone close to you (it might be a friend, a relative, even your spouse or husband) starts going to seminars every week or trying to sell you stuff instead of coming over for a simple chat then he/she is INFECTED!!!!
I recommend quarantine. Get them away from these seminars, show them the beautiful and important things of life like walks in the parc or cuddling on the couch. Sometimes it is too late and they are too far ACN branded. In that case may god be with them :)

Ken and Barbie hate mirrors :p
Not so long ago I was trying to join a blog group. And so the administrators were having a vote on it. 2 or 3 people were against, since they only wanted to admit "happy and positive people".
And so it got me thinking: what about me comes off as the contrary to that?
Is it the fact that I'm blogging about some truth that bothers or is it because I hand them a mirror and they don't like what they see?
Should we all become smiling stepford people*?
I count myself lucky in life. I may not live large money wise but I'm happy. Still, i'd be insulting my intelligence if I chose to just "close my eyes".
When Bush announced that he was planning to have war with iraq I was out in the streets. And when later on I turned the Tv and saw how many countries were in the streets against it and how many people, I was just...amazed! I caught myself thinking that for one of the rare times in history the whole world revolts against something so inhuman, together. So of course when the war started anyway I was crushed. That same night some friends went out clubbing and asked me to come along. I just couldn't. I kept having visions of the women and children in Iraq. One of my friends told me that I didn't know anyone in Iraq so that she couldn't understand how that could keep me from going dancing.
When will we care? When misery comes to our continent? Will we care when it come to our country? Our city? Or only when it comes to ourselves? Has the world become so egoist that we should just close our eyes on the bum in the streets or the woman crying in a corner and pretend they don't exist?
I still have hope that one day people will start to slowly realize that this way ain't working.
Yes, one day I hope that the word "hope" won't simply be pronounced by the mouth of yet another politician but really exist in the hearts of people. Cuz with the hunger / suicide / crime rates just going up, this way surely ain't working.
So to all the stepford people* wanting me to shut up, I give you the salute. And at the end of the day, my life will have such substance...

People
Before We start:
In this post, I reefer to the general public as people. The 90% of people who are glued to the actual system. Who live their daily routine lives without ever questioning their purpose and goals, their ways of life. The 90% of people who tell you "you're talking shit" when you think or have a different opinion about what life is about.
~ Thank you and have a nice tour in my mind :P
People tend to take things personal. Much too personal. Its like whe're permanently in a reality show where they NEED the drama.
95% of my friends never leave a message. So in my head, you had nothing to say so why call back? I mean if someone really needs me, and for whatever reason, be it for a service or just to know how i'm doing, then why not let me know on my voicemail? or just a "Hey Gab call me back"? The thing is that they actually get angry when I don't answer. So they hang up.
Having a cell equals always being available in people's head nowadays. People actually didn't invite me to parties cuz I didn't answer the phone. They called but left no message. A few days later I ask why didn't you tell me about the party?
- "I called but you didn't answer"
- why not leave a message?
- I don't do messages.
People don't care that you're having a nice romantic dinner, that you are in the movies, having sex. When they call how dare you not answer? Me, I'm more of a " I'de prefer to live in the 1410 years with the indian tribes in the caribbean" type of guy. So I don't like having a cellphone implanted in my ear 24/7.
People just don't leave you alone. It's like that new cigarette commercial. They creep out of everywhere. Show up at your house unannounced. Stalk you on facebook. Call you but never leave messages. If I had a crew of paparazzies following me Im sure people would read me in "In touch" even tough Im not famous. It don't stop.
If I keep having fun with everyone, when will I have the time to build a career, a strong relationship? Will any of you give me some money or a good wife if I don't do so well? Oh then it's every man or woman for him/her self?
Yes, people need people in order to survive. I once knew a guy who came to my house as soon as I woke up (8am) and only left when I was about to sleep (12~1 am). Matter o' fact I knew 2 or 3 of them. They even wanted to sleep on my couch so they would never have to leave. Keep in my mind that these people had houses and food. I asked one of them once, "When do you get time to reflect on yourself or be creative if you're never alone?" and he answered to my surprise
" I don't"

The fisherman
"My mind is the place where I make my plans
The world is the place where I take my stand
The beauty of life is mine today
They cannot take my mind away"
-- From the song Psychology by dead prez
Now as a human being, i'm being pulled apart by two forces. As an anarchist I want us to be free. Bring the trade market back, destroy the big wallmarts corporations. But as a husband and maybe soon to be father I have to provide. And right now, the artistic way doesn't seem to work. So I find myself thinking of taking the easy way out and working for the corporations that I hate so much. The problem is that the more I stay in that environment and the more I notice my mind "shutting off". It is like we are all turning into empty shells. Shadows of our former selves. Working all our lives, only living for short periods of time ( When we are on vacation or if we finally get stinkin' rich ). Some will say "that's just growing up". No it's not.
What is the last time you took some time to breath and really enjoy life ? What is the last time you laughed? Really laughed? From time to time I do have those wonderful moments when I say "Damn it's good to be alive". But in my opinion they are too rare. And some people don't have them at all. Suicide rates are going up more and more. Killing sprees. These are works of people with problems yes. But we never seem to stop and ask ourselves where Do these problems come from?
Is our brain our problem? I for myself have never seen any animal go on a killing spree, nor killed itself purposely. Except for humans.
Is it our brains? Or is it our subconsciouses ? In our hearts we know that we weren't made to live like this. But what can we do? Nobody will come to help when my family'll be hungry. Yet there seems to be enough money to go around since it's being thrown out the windows. I've seen good people work all their lives just to SURVIVE! And yet some empty headed barbie comes along, shakes some ass on screen and she is being paid millions PER movie. And most people condone it.
What does this have to do with subject at hand? Everything!
People are still dying of hunger in the world. It is not just a tv commercial for you to send money. It is real. But we don't care. As long as it isn't family or friends.
In our heads we live in a democratic society. We are killing our minds everyday, shutting up our cries for freedom , and walking around like zombies working all day long in order to get to the "american dream". Yet even when we do make lots of money. It is never enough.
Fiends for the dollar. Wishing to win the lottery so that we might finally live.
To finish, I will add this text I read back in school. Can't remember who wrote it tough.
" A fisherman is relaxing on the warm sand under a tree.
Comes along a rich business man.
-Hello, says the business man can I have a few minutes of your time?
-Sure, says the fisherman
-I can't help but notice that it is still early, yet you're relaxing?
-Yes I've already catch all the fish my family and I can eat for the day.
-If you went working anyways you would have twice that fish.
-And what would I do with those extra fish?
-You would sell them and earn extra money.
-And what would I do with that money?
-You could buy a second boat and employ some people and catch even more fish. The when you have enough money you could buy tens of boats and earn so much money that you wouldn't have to work no more.
-Oh and what would I do then?
-You could relax and enjoy life said the business man
-isn't that exactly what I am doing now? Asked the fisherman"

DUMB IT DOWN
A while ago I wrote an article on depression pills aka The chill pill.
That is only one of the faces of the "dumb it down" aspect of the 2000's. In the 70's we had the hippies which where protesting. In the 80's/90's the black people where fighting for equality.
Today it's 2009 and most of the fight has died in us. We accept all the injustice/oppression / Darkness in the world. Because it's not up to us, it's not our fault.
"I see all this potential, and I see it squandered.
Goddammit, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables, slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need.
We're the middle children of history, man; no purpose or place. We have no Great War, no Great Depression. Our Great War is a spiritual war. Our Great Depression is our lives.
We've all been raised by television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires and movie gods and rock stars. But we won't; and we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off."
- Tyler Durden - from the movie Fight Club
Well, know that doing even the slightest action to wake people up is better than not doing anything at all. Write / Yell / Draw /Paint do anything but letting your mind stay asleep.
In the world we live in today, the people higher up the "american dream chain" don't want you to get smart and start thinking. They want you to get "dumbed down". Why it is you think they give you all these distractions?
Thousands of sitcoms all day/night long? Videogame consoles, celebrity magazines? They selling us dreams and we're buying.
Now Im not an extremist. I play my videogames and watch crap tv from time to time. But that's not all I do. That isn't what my life will amount to when im on my death bed. I would have liked to say that I LIVED. Yes I lived, fought my battles. Lost some and won some. But I stood up and said "This I can't let pass". And at the end of the day my conscience will be clean.
As a conclusion Id like to post this video by Lupe fiasco. Now I know this looks like all the other "rap" videos out there: Models and thugs. But it is meant that way to show the message he's getting through. Listen to the words. Especially the chorus.
" You've been shedding too much light Lu (Dumb it down)
You make'em wanna do right Lu (Dumb it down)
They're getting self-esteem (Dumb it down)"

A Bush, Obama and some terrorists story
Bush actually DID keep us safe from the terrorists....
No Im jokin'. People still haven't figured it out yet. And I don't think they ever will. The problem is that we keep thinking we can make them see. The real us "kings" aren't the presidents. Money rules the world.
I was reading machiavel and he says that politics deals with 3 things:
The king, the rich and the people. Now we know that the above 2 don't work for us the people. Right now, the rich have the power. They pull the strings. War brings money. So as well as i'd like to only look at bush. He was just "in bed" with these people. Just another pawn, payed for front man. Is Obama better? yes and no. Now I know I will get stoned for this but instead if buying into the frenzy and say we are saved like most. I choose to stay neutral and observe.
Life most of the times, has 2 sides of a coin. Now the good side would be that there are no 2 sides. And that Obama really is a "good guy".
But would it really be soo impossible to think that there might be someone higher up?Really??? Of course people are willing to believe without once thinking for a minute. They were affraid!!! I was watching at "the mist" by stephen king yesterday. At the beggining of the movie there was this religious fanatic preaching. No one would pay attention to her and the ones that were, were telling her to shut up. But as the movie progresses and the people got more affraid they all submitted to her and as she said:"they were on ther knees".
Now Im not saying Obama is that crazy lady. But we do have to think for a moment. AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!!!!! Just now after bush the perfect president comes along? He's
"anti-war",smart and afro-american?
Where were all the other minorities who wanted to be president and make a change? So I went to his website and see what he was promising. Yes he wants to pull out troops from Irak.
Yes he wants a health system.
Yes he wants to give more jobs.
Yes he wants to reduce taxes.
And yes he closed guantanamo bay.
But he wants to
"Find, Disrupt, and Destroy Al Qaeda"
"increase our ground forces by 65,000 soldiers and 27,000 Marines"
And he wants to disarm Iran.
Now we know that Al quaeda didn't cause the 911 or if they did they were under the approval of the states. So why still this "need" to pursue these guys? How is he gonna fix all these things when he's reducing taxes and increasing the military and rebuilding the army as he says? Why do we need more army all the time? The world is fucked up. But not as they say it is. Where will he find that money?
Finally, if the states want to end nuclear bombs that much. Start with your own.
I hope Obama is for real. In the bottom of my heart I really hope he is. It was a song that first made me take a deeper look into all of this. And at first I really criticized the artists that made it.
But after my "deception" passed it really got me thinking. And it re-energized me. It was thinking that made me the person I am. As I'm not the "every day routine" type of guy. And the best thing a government can wish for is
that the whole world stopped thinking....except for the kings and queens........
Now this post started out as a reply for Anok's blog(http://identitycheck-anok.blogspot.com/) but then it just got too long. SO I posted it here :D

Take a dumb pill.
We live in a world of pills.
Since a while I've been counting the number of pill commercials on TV. Hundreds! Erection problems? Take a pill. Depression?Take a pill. Allergies? Take a pill. and so on.
Having had depression when I was in my teenage years, I've had some experience with the "get well" pills. Let me tell you, they work! Oh yeah, they are great! I started taking them and I was happy all the time. The flip-side? They are legal recreational drugs. During the time I was on these pills, I noticed I never drew anymore. I never wrote, I never created anything. Now drawing has been my favorite leisure since I could hold a pencil. Drawing is my life and income since I'm a graphic designer. But I never drew so there was no money coming in either but I didn't care. I was on the "get well"pill.
I'm a thinker, I think all day long. Everyone thinks you'll tell me. No! I got thoughts like voices in my head. Constantly thinking about the future, trying to anticipate stuff, thinking about why our systems don't work and so on. But these pills, even when I wanted to think, nothing came. Zero. It was like a joint high, except I wasn't thinking about s#!^
You ask me, stress causes depression. The stress that comes from society enslaving you and not letting you live the live you dreamed of as a kid. In my case it was the lagoon. Let me clarify. As a kid I saw a movie called "The blue lagoon" and "The return to the blue lagoon". Since I was very young I wanted to get away from the corruption and filth that came with large societies having suffered many of their vices by adults. So when I saw these movies, I fell in love. I fell in love with the beach and the freedom that placed offered. But As I grew older, I still hadn't realized my dream of living in a place like that and it ate my alive. At the time I didn't realize that THAT was my problem so my parents sent me to a shrink. Take a pill she said. Take a pill and you'll feel better.
That's when I realized that the "chill pill" really existed. On that pill, I was never afraid, never down, never angry. I simply had no emotions. That a point that when I was on vacation, my mother called to inform me that robbers came to the house and beat my 70 yr old father. I simply couldn't feel anything. I loved my dad. But I simply couldn't feel anything!
They say that most diseases if not all start from not being at ease. Hence the word dis-ease. I think it's true. People are more and more enslaved in a capitalist system where they work their asses off in order to live up to the american dream; Leaving their families/husbands/wives for the last 10-15 minutes of the day between their daily jobs and sitcoms they watch before going to bed.
By the way when I wanted to stop taking the chill pill, I had the worst withdrawal symptoms ever. For about 3-4 months, everynight and I really mean everynight as in 120 nights, I had the most terrible nightmares ever.Look it up if you don't believe me. Google Paxil withdrawal.
So People of the system. Remember, when live gets too hard, Take a chill/paxil pill and dumb yourself down :)
Since a while I've been counting the number of pill commercials on TV. Hundreds! Erection problems? Take a pill. Depression?Take a pill. Allergies? Take a pill. and so on.

Anarchy
Every time I seem to talk about anarchy, people always come with the same remarks. "Without government the world would be chaos"...bla bla blab bla and so on. It amazes me that even when presented with proof, the masses choose to be in denial and just shut off.
For example, lots of times i'm at home with a few people. I start having profound discussions with someone about politics,religion,etc... 10 times out of 10 someone else in the room will shout something of the like " You guys are always talking shit". But when we're talking about which girl is hot or the latest blockbuster movie, no one, NO ONE says something of the sort. I have come to the conclusion that some people are so deeply routed in the system that they would NEVER see the truth as it is too much complicated or they don't want to be considered as "crazy" or "nerdy" or"paranoid". They prefer to continue living their little lives in the simple routine set for them by their parents. Where they wake up, eat, go to work, come back from work, eat, exercice, watch a movie, and go to bed. They don't care about wars, injustice, the truth. What they care about is who brad pitt is curently dating or what cure lindsay lohan is following.
Yes people hate change. They hate effort. Every person I met or heard or read that wasn't content with the system/government had something to say about what bothered them about it. Some form of thought, profound thought. When I asked them why don't you believe in the system or why do you think god isn't what the bible says he is. They could spend hours debating. Yet the ones that believe god exists without ever doubting or the ones that say yes government is perfect. These fanatics would simply answer " God exists because he exists" or "The government is good and if you say it isn't good, you're a nerdy, paranoid conspiracy believing geek with no life" or "Get out, get a life". These people cannot spend more than a few seconds debating their cause. They are the ones that will simply get irritated and start attacking you on a personal level. Every time someone said to me I was acting childish, wasn't because I was crying, being immature or screaming. No, every time someone said that to me was because I wasn't agreeing with them.
To get back to the main problem. When most people hear anarchy they picture a mad max type of world. A world destroyed where gangs rule and do whatever they want. In fact it's quite the opposite. Since anarchy isn't a total absence of moral. It is simply a world where the small people aren't pushed around like when we were in secondary school. It is a place where there will be law but everyone will have a say. We are all tired of the constant wars, of police brutality, economic injustices. The rich get richer and the poor poorer. But the masses have been dumbed down. 95% of the people just don't care. The people of my generation who listen to hip hop back in the days know where it came from. I mean back in the day it was about poetry, life in the gettho, racism, oppression. Nowadays if you ain't rich or "gangsta"you can't rap. Nowadays, if you ain't talking about how many girls you got, how many chains, cars you ain't "in". This isn't a simple coincidence. Funny how how all artists that had real values and stayed true, died.
Bob Marley, John Lennon, Peter Tosh, Tupac among others. And they have been replaced by fake, empty puppets. People that sing about revolution are put aside and don't make a cent.
Yes, the world of today has been carefully planned for a long time. Things or people that make you think are carefully locked up or called "illegal". Marijuana is illegal and yet alcohol is legal. Why is that? Alcohol makes you want to party, have sex. Drunk driving killed thousands of people. But that's ok as long as you ain't thinking. But marijuana makes you re-examin things. Look at the hippies during the vietnam war.
But what kills me the most is that no matter how many times we present the truth, no matter how many times they see the truth, their eyes are and will stay closed. Yes, the people isn't something you can see or touch. The system is created by you and me and lives through you and me. But let us not lose hope. Even if its not today nor tomorrow, as long as there are people like me and revolutionaries like you out there and we spread the word, one day, one day we will form bigger communities and one day maybe there will be change.
